Dear Parents,
It does not seem as though we are already in the second nine weeks. It has been an exciting journey with your children thus far. The first nine weeks was a period of getting to know one another and for students to get acquainted with my expectations.
Homework
is given every night. Students are to read 20 minutes each night and practice the skill or skills that we have been learning in the classroom. Students will create a reading log for each week and you are to sign their reading log each night noting how many minutes they read. Reading aloud will help them with their fluency. If you ask them questions or just have them summarize what they read to you, this will help with their comprehension.
They have spelling words every week. They are given to them on Monday and no later then Tuesday. Please assist them with learning these words. We analyze and work on them Monday through Thursday in the classroom. The test is on Friday.
We will begin “book it” which is sponsored by Pizza Hut. Students are to read three books and complete three book reports to get a coupon for a free pizza.
Thank you to Ms. Martinez, Abraham’s Mom for assisting us with the Fall Festival basket and to Ms. Lonzo for donating the basket and items for it. Thank you to all other parents that sent us items.
